Raise And Hold

At Professional Building Movers, we’ve successfully completed hundreds of raise and hold projects, which are often complex and require careful coordination.

In raise and hold projects, we’re typically called in to work alongside structural engineers, architects, general contractors, concrete contractors, subcontractors, and homeowners or developers.

We meticulously follow these steps:

  • jackhammer holes into the sides of the foundation
  • insert steel beams through the foundation and under the floor joists (running in both directions to capture the building)
  • raising the building (usually 3 to 6 feet) using jacking systems
  • lower the building back onto the foundation after the concrete has been poured and has cured

One of our most remarkable raise and hold projects involved homes in Ken Caryl Ranch that had suffered damage because of expanding bentonite soil. We raised the homes, placed them in their backyards while foundations were being replaced, and put them back on their new foundations.

In conjunction with our affiliate company, PBM Excavating Co., we can offer turnkey services on raise and hold, including: disconnect the utilities, place the beams, raise the building, perform excavation work, set the building back down, and re-hook up water and sewer.
